Cloudlifter Cl1 Review

If you have a dynamic mic that requires a lot of gain such as a Shure Sm7b or a ribbon mic with a low output, look no further. The Cloudlifter is a fantastic little device that uses your mixers or audio interface’s phantom power and converts it to up to 25 db’s of clean gain for your dynamic or ribbon microphones. I’ve tried it, and it does this extremely well. I was using my SM7b through a portable interface which didn’t really have enough gain to power it property. The Cloudlifter changes that. Even if you are using a high quality external preamp, you can probably still benefit from the Cloudlifter as it simply boosts the signals from your mic without affecting it’s sound.
